Volunteer at Entheos

Hello, and thank you for considering volunteering for the Entheos lightship.

Before we begin, there are a few things that you need to know.

A volunteer commitment entails two separate six hour shifts during the gathering.

Volunteers (and event crew) are required to pay $40 (same amount as last year) to cover camping costs, meals, and related administrative and facilities expenses. During festival times, there will be nourishing and delicious vegetarian meals (breakfast and dinner). If you are serving on Long Crew, other provisions are being planned. Please see your cell head for details.

Volunteers are the backbone of this kind of project, and are invaluable to the smooth operation of the Entheos lightship experience. If you do not believe that you can responsibly (and soberly) fulfill your volunteer commitment to Entheos, please stop here.

Dates at the Festival
We'd like to ask all volunteers to be on the land from Friday June 17th to Monday June 20th. This allows you to work your shifts while still having ample time to enjoy the festival.

We can always use more help before and after the festival. If you'd like to come up a day or two early or stay an extra day, that's awesome--as long as you're planning to pitch in.

Preferred Cells
Entheos is organized very organically, and to reflect this, each area of responsibility for the festival is called a 'Cell'. At the center of each Cell is at least one 'Nucleus', an individual who manages the functioning of that Cell.

As a volunteer you will be assigned to a particular cell, and you will be in contact with the Cell Nucleus leading up to the festival to determine your shift schedule.

Long Crew
Long Crew arrives at the land Tuesday, June 14 (or even earlier, for some) to start setting up. We set up spaces and structures, preparing for the people yet to arrive. Long Crew is also responsible for tear down up to five days after the event.

Working Long Crew can be a very special experience. Being on the land without the amplified sound and the masses of people allows for a much deeper grounding moving into the festival.

This year we are looking to do a lot or preparation on the land in the lead up to the event. We are especially looking for people with permaculture design skills who are available to come up to the land weeks before the event. We're also looking for people who would like to help manage the long crew kitchen.

We'd like to find as many people as we can to come up early and work on set up. Some transportation assistance may be available.

Waiver
I and on behalf of any and all heirs, knowingly and voluntarily assume all risk for any property or income loss, personal injury, sickness, or death which may occur by attending and participating in Entheos Summer Solstice 2011 Festival and Conference, herein referred to as “Entheos Gathering 2011”.

I hereby forever release, discharge, and hold harmless Entheos Gathering 2011—including its organizers, officers, members, staff crew, representatives or other agents—from any claim resulting from my presence at Entheos Gathering 2011 and any related activities, even if such claim(s) are a result of negligence of any festival officers, organizers, staff crew, vendors, contractors, volunteers, or third parties.

I assume full responsibility and liability for my personal well being, physical condition, and from any actions by other participants and attendees. I am aware of the risks associated with event attendance and participation, including but not limited to setup, take down, and event participation. I further agree that I am in sufficient physical condition to accept the rigorous level of physical activity required of volunteers.

Moreover, I will comply with any and all rules, regulations, and terms and conditions of Entheos Gathering 2011, including any and all safety provisions. I will attend Volunteer orientation and will complete necessary training before starting my shifts, including special training which might be required of some shifts.
